Push by insurers and employers, public acceptance drive up demand for cheaper generic drugs

When the FDA approved a generic version of Zocor last year, Chattanooga resident Elaine Bohannon switched to the cheaper cholesterol-lowering drug. The change saves her about $150 a month, she said.
