Mayfield is an unlikely host for a revolution in biofuels. It is 1,000 miles from Iowa and Nebraska, the Corn Belt?s biggest producers of ethanol, and almost as far from Reynolds, Ind., two years ago christened ?BioTown, USA.? It is worlds away from the riches ethanol has recently delivered and a century removed from relevance in fueling American energy, a fading ember of former coal country.
